Contact JaNeilJaNeil was born in Safford, AZ, in 1956, and was raised in nearby Duncan. Anderson's artistic talents were apparent early on. Her father also was an artist. Every time she went into Hal Empie's Drug Store in Duncan she would check out the latest on his easel, and he would explain his painting and give advice.
JaNeil was raised on a farm and lived on various ranches in the Southwest, and has first-hand experience with gathering and branding cattle and cooking for the cowboys. She remains strongly influenced by her rural upbringing.
Anderson has been working professionally at her artwork since 1994. Always drawing with pencil in her younger years, she moved on to pastels and then to oil painting. Oil was and is very challenging, but JaNeil now prefers it to all other media. Her subject matter deals with the late 1800s Native American Indian and today's and yesterday's working cowboys and the women and children in their lives. She prefers detailed work of people working or playing.
Her paintings have captured the hearts of many are on display in private collections across North America.
Anderson now lives with her husband, Walt, on their third-generation cattle ranch on the Gila River in Southwest New Mexico.
